Behind the pipes with Ron.
I started taking piping lessons at the age of 39. Not the ideal age but the journey from beginner to piping in a gr4 band has been incredible. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine playing in a competition band, winning two North American Championships along with one Champion Supreme season.
I grew up at the highland games following my father (Garry Hall) around and dreaming one day I could play in massed bands with him. Not a lofty goal by any stretch but massed bands were the coolest thing ever and I couldn't wait to play in one. I got the chance to live out that dream many times and we won a North American Championship together in 2014 while standing right beside each other in the circle. A career highlight I don't think I'll ever be able to eclipse.
